Read explanation

What is the third conditional? It is a type of conditional sentences where we talk about unreal, imaginary condition referring to the situation in the past. To make the second conditional, we put the verb in the "if"-part into the past perfect, and use “would have + past participle” in the second part: If {past perfect}, then would have + {past participle}. The exercises on this page will help you practise the 3rd conditional and memorise the correct verb tenses. You will also find links to other types of conditional sentences in the related topics block.
