Read explanation

What is the second conditional? It is a type of conditional sentences where we talk about unreal, imaginary condition referring to the present or to the future. To make the second conditional, we put the verb in the "if"-part into the past simple, and use would + infinitive in the second part: If {past simple}, would + {infinitive}. The exercises on this page will help you practise the 2nd conditional and memorise the correct verb tenses. You will also find links to other types of conditional sentences in the related topics block.
