The -ed added at the end of the “weak” verbs can be pronounced in three ways, depending on the sound the infinitive ends in: /t / if there is a voiceless consonant; /d/ in case of a voiced consonant or any vowel; /ɪd/ if the sound is /t/ or /d/. Ignorance of these simple rules often leads to an incorrect pronunciation of the verb: we insert an extra syllable when there is no need for it.
