When do we use zero article? Table

Do not use an article:
when there should be "a/an", but the noun is uncountable → cannot use "a/an"	to drink water to buy bread to make coffee
when there should be "a/an", but the noun is in the plural → cannot use "a/an"	to grow flowers to draw with coloured pencils
with mealtimes	to have dinner to go out for lunch
in expressions with work, home, university, college, school, bed	to go to work to be at home to go to university/college/school
in expressions with means of transport	to go by bus, by train, by plane, by car, on foot
in combinations "this / next / last + week / month / year"	What are you doing this weekend? I went to Cuba last year.
